What firenook.dev and the Firenook package collect about you. In short: the site sets no cookies and runs no analytics, and Firenook sends no telemetry.

## This website

firenook.dev is a set of files built ahead of time. It sets no cookies, keeps nothing in your browser’s storage except the docs’ light or dark choice, and loads no analytics, advertising or tracking scripts. Its fonts and pictures are served from firenook.dev itself, so no third party sees your visit through them.

Cloudflare serves the site. Like any web host it handles your IP address and browser details to deliver each page and to protect the site from abuse, under [its privacy policy](https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/). We do not use those logs to follow or profile anyone.

Links to GitHub and npm take you to those services, which have their own policies. The docs’ search runs in your browser on an index served by this site; what you type is not sent anywhere.

## Firenook

Firenook runs on your machine. It sends no telemetry, usage data or crash reports, and keeps your data, logs and diagnostics on your machine, mostly in your project’s `.firenook` folder.

It reaches the network in two cases:

- **A check for a newer release.** At most once a day, the npm package asks the npm registry which versions of firenook are current, in the background, and shows the answer on your next start. The request carries nothing about you or your project beyond what any web request does. It is off in CI and in the plain output, and `FIRENOOK_NO_UPDATE_CHECK=1` or `NO_UPDATE_NOTIFIER=1` turns it off anywhere.
- **An Extension from the registry,** fetched once the first time it runs. `npx firenook ext:vendor`copies it into your project, so it is never fetched again.

Your own Functions code can reach anything it is written to reach; Firenook is not a network sandbox. A `demo-` project id never reaches Google’s services.
